Are You Investing In Yourself?

What is the one thing that all investors look for?

Every investor that I have ever talked to always asks one common question.

What is the R.O.I.? (return on investment)

Investors always want to know what they are going to get back for what they are putting in.

There are lots of investments that give you a moderate return.

If you are a knowledgeable investor you can get excellent returns.

There is one type of investment that gives you an infinite return.

That is investing in yourself.

The most expensive real estate in the world is the six inches between your ears.

Investing in yourself is the wise choice because as you grow your entire life gets richer and richer.

If life was only about financial wealth then you should follow the guidance of Warren Buffet.

All truly wealthy people will tell you that the best investment is investing in yourself.

Robert Kiyosaki, author of “Rich Dad Poor Dad” stated that you need to invest in yourself to become bigger than problems.

Investing in yourself enriches your life in all areas

Have you ever chased after money?

Most people have at one time or other in their life.

What happens when you catch it?

Let’s say that you set a goal to have a really nice car.

You work very hard and then the day comes when you go to get your dream car.

You slide into the seat, start the engine and drive off the lot.

Man, that feels good.

I mean, you worked really hard for this car and you paid a lot of money for it.

Then, about a month or two later, the feeling seems to start slipping away.

You get used to the car and now you are right back where you were before you got it.

What’s with that?

All material possessions give you a high sensation for a short amount of time.

The chase will never end if you are looking for that special feeling from things.

That’s because there are always more things to have.

Investing in yourself gives you a more complete longer lasting feeling.

That’s because one is internal and one is external.

Let me ask you a question?

Have you ever done something nice for someone, spontaneously, just because it was the right thing to do?

How did that make you feel inside?

Investing in yourself causes you to look at how you can help or serve others personally or professionally.

Investing in yourself create a spillover effect

This is one thing about personal development that a lot of people overlook.

Investing In Yourself

When you invest in yourself you impact every area of your life.

The more you work on you the better quality of life you will have.

The 4 main areas of life are relationships, health, spirituality and financial.

The more you invest in you the more you understand that there are more important things in life than just money.

Creating a work life balance becomes a priority for you.

You learn to cope with stress better, think more clearly, stay focused on your goals and enrich your life with good quality relationships.

How many people chase money only to destroy their health and then have to spend their money restoring their health.

Seems rather foolish don’t you think.

Ways to invest in yourself

There are many ways to invest in yourself.

When you look at creating a work life balance you need to be looking at all areas of your life.

Here are some of the ways to invest in yourself that everyone can afford:

  1. Exercise. You don’t need a gym membership. There are endless videos of simple but effective workouts you can do in the comfort of your home and walking is one of the most powerful, especially walking in nature. One of my favourites is Tai Chi because it is internal and encompasses the whole body and your mind.
  2. Reading. There are lots of books that will expand your mind and teach you how to maintain a better attitude towards life. You also have your business development books that usually incorporate a lot of basics about how to better at business.
  3. Always be learning. Regardless of whether it is reading or taking courses become an avid student of life and business if that applies to you.
  4. Meditation. This teaches you how to stay more calm and focused. It also enables you to clear the mind.
  5. Traffic University. Take advantage of when you are travelling in your car to learn something by laying CD’s or MP3. Shifts your focus off of something you can’t control, traffic.
  6. Create a personal development plan.
  7. Eat healthy foods because science has proven that what we eat affects our mind and our moods.

Becoming successful is about creating success habits

Success does happen by chance or luck, it comes as the result of hard work and following success habits.

No one stumbles their way to the top.

This is one area where mentors can really help.

Mentors are people who have achieved what you want to achieve.

Napoleon Hill, author of the classic, Think and Grow Rich, was fortunate enough to interview over 500 of the wealthiest people in the world.

What he discovered was that all these successful people had developed success habits.

These are patterns of behaviour that you adopt.

Some of these habits include time management, taking action every day towards your goals, becoming a student of excellence, hard work and perseverance.

There are lots of distractions in today’s fast moving technology based world.

If you allow yourself to get caught up in all the distractions you will lose the most value commodity available.

That non renewable resource called time.

Success leaves clues, so if you study successful people you will see they all have patterns of behaviour.

Wallace D. Wattles, author of the classic, The Science of Success, said it best, success is doing certain things in a certain way.

You don’t have to figure it out on your own, you can follow in the footsteps of countless numbers of successful people.

Secrets of the rich

I have known and worked with some extremely wealthy people.

In a few conversations they reveal that they have people constantly asking what are the secrets of the rich.

The interesting thing is that there are no secrets.

Since Napoleon Hill wrote that classic, Think and Grow Rich, there have been thousands of books written about success.

There are no secrets that have not been exposed in the success books and in countless numbers of success courses.

One of my mentors told me people know what to do, they just don’t do it.

So I guess you could say the secrets of the rich are all about making decisions and taking action everyday.

There is one way to shorten the learning curve.

Instead of trying to figure it all out on your own, find a mentor(s) that resonate with you.

I can assure you if you are so inclined to listen to a mentor that they will get you on a faster track to profits and success.

The alternative is not pretty, trust me, I know.

I took the hard road and paid a very steep price.

My business and my life changed when I found mentor(s) that I know, like and trust and followed the bouncing ball.
