Entrepreneurship -Discover A Better Way

What is entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurship is when you make the decision to start a business or an organization. An entrepreneur is someone who starts a business on their own and the sole responsibility of the success rests on their shoulders.

The world economy has gone through several recessions since the great depression and up until about 15 years ago starting out as an entrepreneur was often associated with a very high risk.

When you consider that 85% of all businesses fail in the first 5 years, it took considerable courage to step into the entrepreneurship world. The last two recessions which in occurred in the early 1980″s and more specifically the monster economic world wide recession that started in late 2007 changed the corporate landscape forever.

What does it take to be an entrepreneur?

To be an entrepreneur and more specifically a successful one you need to have a few key qualities. An entrepreneur has to be able to take risks. If you are squeamish about taking risks then I would suggest you stick to the J.O.B. market.(just over broke) .

You need to remind yourself of one key factor, no one started off successful, so failing is a pre requisite for success. Sorry, maybe you didn’t want to hear that but after 35 years in the entrepreneurship world I have had my share of both successes and failures.

Trust me, if you only fail once, you’re not trying hard enough.

You need leadership skills, persistence, discipline, sense of commitment, communication skills, integrity, imagination and a good attitude. As I said before no one starts off successful and has all these qualities working for them. These are skills you need to develop. You need to invest into yourself more than your business.

Everyone learns differently

Everyone is unique in their own way, including the way you learn. Some people are academics and simply by studying they learn. Academics apply a lot of mental power in learning by way of books and courses.

Practical learners (this includes me) learn by doing things. For example an engineer (academic) is needed to understand the dynamics of building structures and putting them on a plan. The practical person can take the plans and put them into action and build the structures.

Usually one is not good at doing the others work.

You need to understand how you learn so you can apply your knowledge in the best possible way. There are many components to starting and building a business. No one, I repeat no one is good at all of them.

Each of our brains is wired a certain way and if you work with your weaknesses you will fail fast and often. Know your strengths and surround yourself with key people who compliment your skills.

The explosion of Mompreneurs

The shifting of the global economy has changed the get a job or career forever era. Nowadays it is forecast that you will have a minimum of 5 career changes in your lifespan in the workplace.

The plus side is that where one door closes another one opens. Becoming an entrepreneur today is much more viable than it was even 15 years ago.

One of the sectors of entrepreneurship that has exploded is mompreneurs or woman who have had a child and want to stay home with the baby.

Think about this. You pay for transportation to go to work, you pay for daycare and you have all those taxes to pay as an employee. Not much leftover.

As an entrepreneur you are entitled to a lot of business tax advantages unlike an employee. Plus, NO COMMUTE! Bonus. Flexible work schedule plus tax advantages means you need to earn far less to be in the same place as going through all that hassle and someone else raise your child.

You and your children will be far ahead of the game.

Another fact is that women are better networkers than men. That’s why many women are extremely successful in network marketing. Its a level playing field for everyone.

You perform, you get get paid regardless of education, experience or gender.Take a look at most network marketing companies and you will see lots of powerhouse women at the top.

Pros and cons of entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is definitely not for everyone. Some people do much better when someone else has the ideas and they just tell you what to do.

Science has determined that about 50% of people are hard wired for entrepreneurship and 50% are job oriented. To some people the responsibility of having your own business whether it is a home based business or a conventional business is too much pressure.

You will fail because you lack skills or experience or knowledge. You will develop these as you progress through the process but this takes perseverance and commitment.

Juggling finances, your work responsibilities and your personal life is an ongoing challenge. Advantages are you get to create your schedule and you can give yourself a raise every week depending on the type of business you are in.

Tax advantages. Being in control of your destiny because neither the government or any company will take care of you should be enough reason to become an entrepreneur.

The future of entrepreneurship

Corporate America is outsourcing and downsizing in every way possible in order to compete in the new global economy. Their bottom line comes at your expense. You get squeezed until you are burnt out and they can replace you in a nano second.

Every recession that happens has produced an increase in the entrepreneur sector. You can get started in a home based business for less than a $1,000.00 depending on what you start.

Most people have no idea how skilled and knowledgeable they already are. Many opportunities have coaches and mentors to help you learn the skills to be successful.

You get to be in business for yourself but not by yourself. Your future is better in your hands than the hands of someone who really doesn’t care about you.
