You can create magic when you write out your goals and objectives

There is something special that happens when you take the serious plunge and write out your objectives. Suddenly, it is right there on paper in front of your eyes. Now, you have to become accountable, not to anyone, but to yourself.

This might create a little fear in you at first but when you become accountable you will realize that this is putting you on the path to taking responsibility for your life. Finding an accountability partner to work with is like having an insurance policy that reminds you what you have committed to.

Having the right plan of action leads you to your objectives…

We are talking about your life here. Are you the kind of person that just makes stuff up in your head  and then just wings it? This is called dreaming or wishing. Can you imagine getting on a plane and the captain had no plan of how he was going to get to his destination? This is your captain speaking, and we will be flying somewhere at an altitude of about 35,000 feet. How would that make you feel?

Accomplishing your objectives requires a clear vision and a your plan of action. You first start by setting your goals. It is much easier to hit your objectives if you have goals to work from. The other point for you to get is that you must have clarity in your goals. The more clear your goals are the more clear your plan of action and the more clear your objectives will be.

Visualization is a powerful asset for you. It might sound strange but great leaders always say to start with the end result in your mind. This is you visualizing the accomplishment of your goals. It is no different than any great athlete who has visualized the home run, the winning basket, the last second shot or crossing the winning line first.

First you imagine your objectives in your mind and then you prepare your goals and the plan of action. Get busy! How would you like a business that helps you create a vision for your life, encourages you to achieve your objectives and supports your dreams. S.M.A.R.T. goals to achieve your objectives…

There is a science to writing down goals and there is a real purpose of this activity. The captain that charts the flight plan knows that due to a number of unknown variables he will be off course from time to time but ultimately he will be able to reset the course to achieve his objective that was set out before the journey.

The same logic applies to you and your plan.

The S stands for specific which is clarity.

The M stands for measurable which means like the pilot you will be able to determine if you are on track and if necessary to push the reset button to get back on track.

The A stands for attainable or achievable which means that it is possible to accomplish your objectives.

The R stands for relevant which is identifying the factors you need to put into place that pertain to your objectives. The factors must be related to where you are headed.

The T stands for time bound which is the gauge you set for the amount of time you give yourself to get there. One of the keys is creating several time goals, short month by month, mid range being 1 year and long range being 5 years. Things change too quickly now so going beyond 5 years is unnecessary.

This is a formula that has stood the test of time for successful leaders whether you are an entrepreneur or running a multi million dollar company.
