Leaders Are Readers

Are you the example for others to follow?

Are you a leader? What does it take to be a great leader? Who are you following? There is an expression that states: ” Not all readers are leaders but all leaders are readers”.

There are no natural born leaders. Leaders are formed and sculpted out of life experiences, hard work and personal development. One of the qualities of a great leader is what they are reading on a daily basis.

One of the keys to becoming successful and more importantly staying successful is what you are inputting between your ears. If your intention is to be one of the great leaders in what you are doing you need to become an avid reader. Reading is learning and your thirst for learning should never be quenched.

How are you spending your time?

Did you ever notice that people that don’t have much don’t do much? They put in the absolute minimum and interestingly enough they very often demand the most.

The mind is like a super computer that no one has ever been able to tap its fullest potential. If you read 5 books a day you could not wear the mind out. It just keeps expanding and growing.

What do you do in your leisure time? Watch TV, play games on the computer, surf the net or engage in mindless conversation.

Great leaders are continually looking to expand their leadership skills and one way of doing this is reading great books or articles. There is opportunity to learn everywhere.

One way is to listen to good CD’s or audio books in your car. Instead of focusing on what the other drivers are doing or not doing…you could plug in a great audio book and learn while driving.

Did you know that the average person drives the equivalent of attending a university semester every year. I call it attending Traffic University.

Leaders get results while others make excuses

Leaders can be a parent, a coach, a mentor, a teammate, or a co-worker. Great leaders don’t need a title. They lead by example. The qualities of a good leader can be the same with or without the titles.

This is a fast paced world we are living in and keeping up is a challenge for most. If you want to be a leader of the pack (family, team, business) then you want to be investing on mind expansion with great material.

The common denominators of leaders in all areas of life are learning, growing and applying knowledge. Whether it be personal application such as family or sports or business application if you want to be a team leader you must put in the time reading material that will stimulate your mind to become better.

Are you a team leader looking to build leadership skills?

Did you know that 70% of all people in the U.S. never read another book after they graduate. Only 30% read 1-5 books a year.

Is it because books cost so much? No. Amazon sells used books for a fraction of the cost of book stores and there is a way to get access to all books for FREE…all you have to do is go to a public library. 100% FREE. There really is no excuses.

Leaders understand the significance of personal transformation

Success is not all about how much you have or get but about who you become on the journey. Your business success is intertwined with your personal success and vice versa. Reading is a great way to learn and grow.

Think about it, when you read you get to experience the condensed version of someone’s life experiences in a book. One golden nugget of wisdom can transform your entire life.

Have you ever been quietly sitting there reading and then EUREKA, you experienced an aha moment. Something you read resonated with you at the core of your being and suddenly you got it.

You might even realize that you read that same message before a few times but this certain author worded it in such a way that you felt it.

There is great power in words. This power can shift your consciousness and when you expand, you can never go back to the same way of looking at things.
