The Psychology Of Money

Are you getting caught up with the psychology of money?

Do you want more money?

Chances are you said yes.

As a matter of fact if you asked 100 people 99 out of a 100 would tell you, yes, they want more money.

There is always at least 1 who has this belief that money is the root of all evil so they are actually afraid to have more money.

The psychology of money is wrapped around your beliefs about yourself and your relationship with money.

If you have limiting beliefs and were brought up with phrases like “Money doesn’t grow on trees”, “What do you think, I am made of money” (when you asked for something), “Money is the root of all evil”, chances are you struggle with the handling of money.

All the things you grew up with have installed impressions into your subconscious mind.

A lot of what you heard about the psychology of money growing up has a lot to do with the era your parents were raised in.

The parents who were raised during the great depression developed a scarcity mindset.

You could never have enough money to feel secure.

The psychology of money can feel like a trap

Have you ever bought a new car and you are all happy driving it around.

One day about a month after the new car feeling is starting to wear off someone with a much nicer car pulls up beside you and the thought goes through your mind, man, wouldn’t I like to own that car.

It doesn’t matter if it is a smartphone, a motorcycle or a new house.

As soon as you see something you perceive to be nicer you create a new desire to have it.

The psychology of money is the same, you make it you want more, you lose it and you want to get it back. It’s almost like an addiction.

The question is, how do you resolve this dilemma about the psychology of money?

87% of what you do on a daily basis is driven by your subconscious mind so all those thousands of impressions when you were growing up have now become your habits.

What you think and what you do is running on autopilot.

Let me ask you a question, “How is that working out for you?”

Is it time to start drilling down to the core and re installing new beliefs which results in new thoughts and new behaviours.

Do you want to start creating new thoughts and new behaviours?

It starts by reframing the thoughts in your mind.

How to use the psychology of money to win the game of life

Are you motivated or does someone have to be pushing you all the time to do things?

What do you want?

I asked the question above, “Who wants more money?” and chances are you are one of the 99% but the next question is , “What are you willing to do to get more money?”

This is the catch, you have to work to get it, sorry!

The first work required is on the most expensive real estate in the world.

The six inches between your ears.

Awareness is the precursor to change and you need to understand how you think and what is your core values in order to move forward with new behaviours.

You need to look back and see if you were raised with a scarcity mindset or an abundance mindset.

A scarcity mindset makes you believe that if you win someone else has to lose at the money game.

A scarcity mindset is always having you look at life from a lack point of view.

You get caught between saving money or spending money.

The psychology of money and motivation

There are two essential types of motivation.

There is intrinsic motivation which comes from within you and extrinsic motivation which is external.

Extrinsic motivation examples would be more money,  a car, a house or a dream vacation.

This type of motivation seems to always wear off and you will be controlled by your EGO to always want more.

What is the difference between a Mercedes and a Volkswagon Jetta?

They are both cars and they will both get you from point “A” to point “B”.

It’s the feeling that is different.

Sitting in a Mercedes is cool, special and luxurious.

You are always after the feeling.

When it wears off you need to have more or something nicer to create a new feeling.

Intrinsic motivation is more about making a contribution or connection.

The idea of helping someone to succeed is beyond measure.

It’s priceless!

Success is not about how much money you have or what it will buy but who you become on the journey.

Do you want to change your life?

It starts with self education and self improvement.

Ways to become rich

First you must change how you think.

Some people believe that saving money is a way to get rich.

There is that lack mindset kicking into gear here.

One of the concepts that goes with all the ways to become rich (that I believe in) include serving people value.

You can create so much value for others that it will make a difference in their lives.

Intrinsic motivators are more powerful and lasting than the extrinsic motivators.

Thoughts are things and everything you have in your life was first conceived in the mind of someone.

The key to ways to become rich starts with a shift in your mindset.

Regardless of how good any idea is if you don’t understand the psychology of money you will fail.

You will find some way to self sabotage your success.

One of the greatest challenges that faces all of us is getting out of our own way.

You don’t know what you don’t know.

Working with others with an abundant mindset can change all that.
