Everyone wants to be successful.

Then why aren’t more people successful?

What is the secret to success?

Is it only people born into rich families that are successful?

There is a dictionary meaning for success and then there is your definition of success.

That means that there are 7 Billion definitions to the meaning of success.

No one can define what success is to you.

You have to do that.

Success for some is being wealthy financially.

For some its being a great Mom or Dad.

For some its to live a healthy lifestyle.

While others will tell you that success is having a work life balance lifestyle.

You are the artist of your life.

You get to paint any picture you want.

There are some fundamentals that you have to have in place in order for you to experience success.

What holds us back from achieving success

A lot of people head down the road of entrepreneurship but very few complete the journey.

It seems that many self sabotage themselves just before they make a breakthrough.

Why would anyone knowingly self sabotage their own success?

It is a well known fact that lots of people fear failure.

Maybe what is not well known is that many people also fear success.

The struggle or challenge often takes place in a battle of our thoughts.

The thoughts you think are generally a result of how you were raised.

The thousands and thousands of impressions that have been ingrained in your mind.

You have bought into a story about yourself, and more importantly you have bought into it to be true.

Self sabotage comes from the self limiting beliefs of how you perceive yourself.

What is your relationship with money?

Do you believe that you have to take from someone else in order for you to have it?

A scarcity mindset will block you from achieving anything because you won’t even attempt it.

People who live with fear, self doubt and have low self esteem achieve little to nothing in life.

Now, fear is an illusion you create in your mind but perception is reality.

The brain posses neurotransmitters and everything from the food we eat, our physical activity, what you think and how you think it, what you watch and read all affects your brain chemistry.

“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Mindset is one of if not the most powerful component that will determine the level of success you achieve in life.

Regardless of your goals, you need to have the right mindset to experience success.

All successful people have personal development plans to help them create the right mindset.

Changing the habits that you have created

The precursor to change is awareness.

You first need to become aware of the current habits you have.

Did you know that the majority of people perform their daily actions in an unconscious state?

That sounds scary, but think about it.

How many times did you put your shoes on and take them off today?

Did you have to think about going to work today or did you wake up, have a shower, get dressed, have breakfast and out the door?

87% of daily activity is done in an unconscious state because it is mostly repetitive.

You can’t change habits.

They are called habits for a reason.

You have repeated an action or process so often that it becomes ingrained into your subconscious mind.

You can replace habits by becoming consciously aware of your thoughts and actions and deliberately taking a different course of action.

This takes time and requires discipline.

Its like reprogramming the software in your mind, except the old software is still in there under the surface.

Personal development plans help you become more aware and allow you to shift in a new direction.

Understanding the psychology of human behaviour

From the time you were born you have been reacting to the environment you lived in.

As a baby you were like a sponge soaking up every word, movement and behaviour.

All of this created millions of impressions in your brain and helped to create life as you know it.

What were you told as a baby?

What did you see?

Was it a positive or negative environment?

You were exposed to thousands of stimuli as a child and this helped to shape your character and more importantly the belief system you have of yourself.

If you look back and see what you were told about money you probably have a similar thought pattern.

Were you told that you were beautiful, smart and could be anything you wanted or were you told the opposite?

For at least the first 20 years of most people’s lives they are told what to do.

Then you get asked this enormous question, “What do you want to do with the rest of your life?”

You might find yourself in a situation as an adult and someone says something in a certain way or a song comes on and this triggers a feeling inside you.

One of the interesting things about the brain is that it is like a giant computer that records absolutely everything.

When a certain stimuli repeats itself years later you react off of pattern.

This has become your pattern of habit.

Everyone has a pattern of habits.

I used to volunteer in addiction centers (drugs, alcohol, gambling, mental issues) and I discovered that the people became controlled by their addictions.

The same thing happens to most people, they react to their pattern of habits from how they raised and the environment they live in.

Once you become aware of this then you can start to create a shift in your patterns of habit.

The journey to success is laden with obstacles

Every successful person will tell you that they faced lots of obstacles and challenges to achieve success.

The more success you want to achieve the more obstacles and challenges you will face.

One of the keys to success is preparation.

Preparation can also include developing good coping mechanisms.

Coping mechanisms help you to maintain or regain the right mindset.

Here is a list of coping mechanisms that my mentors have recommended to me and ones that I have developed.

  1. Meditation. Meditation is good for clearing your mind and any negative energy you build up.
  2. Listening to music.
  3. Playing a musical instrument.
  4. Taking breaks during the day as no one can stay focused all day.
  5. Going for short walks a couple times a day as fresh air is good for you.
  6. Exercise. This helps to burn off cortisol build up which comes from stress and helps to release endorphins and dopamine, two feel good chemicals.
  7. Read good books that expand your mind.
  8. Pay attention to what you eat as this will affect your brain chemistry.

Do not neglect your health as it is your health that will determine the quality of your life when you get older.

Success is something that applies to all areas of your life.

Create a work life balance and you will find that you will become more productive.

Shape your new future when you build self confidence

Have you ever seen a successful person who lacked self confidence?

When you build self confidence your belief system shifts from” I can’t” to “anything is possible.”

Wallace D. Wattles wrote a book called “The Science of Success”, which I recommend everyone read.

In the book he stated success is about doing certain things in a certain way.

When you eliminate self doubt and fear then you allow yourself to follow the path to success.

Success is about getting out of your own way and following the right path that others have blazed the trail.

If you are filled with self doubt, low self esteem and fear then you will not trust what others are saying because you don’t even trust yourself.

When you build self confidence then you stop self limiting beliefs from making decisions for you.

Building self confidence is a process and you first need to become aware of what thoughts are dominating your subconscious mind.

Now you can create massive change.

This works even if your goal is to be a great Mom.

If your self image is poor you will always be doubting that you are making the right decisions and doing the right things.

It applies everywhere.

Personal growth is not an option.

Get to know your best friend.


Looking back is a waste of time because you can’t change anything back there.

“The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the 2nd best time is now.”

Same applies for creating change in your life.

The second best time, which is the time you can do something about it, is NOW!
