Tips To Stop Self Sabotage

How to get out of your own way…

Do you have the habit of starting things and never finishing them? Are you heading down the path to success and then exit stage right? What’s with that?

Self sabotage is like a game of mental tug of war. It is the conscious mind versus the subconscious mind where the subconscious mind always eventually wins.

The subconscious mind wins because it has been storing up every thought, word, action and life experience since the day you were born. You have created a story about yourself that you believe to be true, based on your life experiences.

You see, your mind is a supercomputer but no one every gave you the manual to the (OS – operating system).

Self sabotage is the game you play with your mind when you have doubts, fears and worry about failure or success. You make stuff up regardless of whether it is true or not.

Don’t believe me, then ask yourself, of all the things you worry about, how much of it has already happened?

Exactly, none of it, because you are worrying in the future which has not arrived yet. You are playing the what if mental game.

So, how do you beat self sabotage? You reprogram your mind.

Limiting beliefs and self sabotage

You’re not good enough. You’re not too bright. You don’t know how to do that. Have you ever heard any of these before?

Whether people actually mean it or not these words and other negative expressions create impressions on your subconscious mind. When the accumulation of these mental thoughts reaches a critical mass you start to buy into it as being real.

Limiting beliefs are one cause of self sabotage. You could be running along headed towards the finish line and suddenly you put on the mental brakes first and this causes you to shift your words and actions.

It’s interesting because if you fail you will be told, I told you so and if you succeed all these new expectations will be placed on you.

If you have a negative association with money and success you will manifest self sabotage.

This is all set in motion by repeated thoughts and actions which form your habits.

It is a scientific fact that most people function on a daily basis through their subconscious mind 87% of the time. Only 13% conscious mind control.

Do you think about dressing, putting your shoes on, eating, brushing your hair, driving to work, watching TV or surfing the internet? There are a lot of activities where you don’t think with the conscious mind. Think about it!

Do you want to re program your mind? Do you want to think differently? Program yourself for success! It is possible.

The success killer “Procrastination”

Why put off until tomorrow what you can put off for the next day? That’s the theme of some people’s lives. Stress and the affects of stress are talked about and studied in medical circles on an ongoing basis.

Anyone (which is all of us) have created so much stress in our lives at one time or another that we could not function normally.

Procrastination is the art of putting things off. This is a stress manifester because stress is created from us knowing what we need to do and just not doing it.

I should have, would have, could have becomes the mantra for many people. Do you know anyone like this?

Self sabotage is inevitable when procrastination rules the order of the day.

So you have this hole dug from putting things off and you are stressed, frustrated and you feel stuck. Believe it or not this can be a very good thing.

If you get to the point where you are totally fed up of creating self sabotage in your life this can be the motivating factor that shifts you into the gear of doing something about it.

Self sabotage and your comfort zone

A comfort zone is really a place in your mind where you’re not happy about your life but you don’t have enough pain to push you too do something about it.

It’s like sitting in a big ole lazy boy chair. You want a beverage but it is so comfortable you don’t want to move. Stuck between two points but you become satisfied and complacent because to change from your comfort zone will take effort.

Do you realize how hard it is on you settling for a life of mediocrity when all that potential within you just sits there doing nothing? Such a waste.

Sitting in your so called comfort zone creates self sabotage because you are not putting your potential to work for you.

You are holding back. Let me ask you a question, “How is that working out for you?”

Is it time for a change? Do you want life to go a new direction? Do you want to live a life by design or default?

Using Law of Attraction to stop self sabotage

Unless you have been living under a rock I’m sure you have heard about Law of Attraction. It exploded when “The Secret Movie” came out.

It’s all about using your mind to attract what you want in your life. Law of Attraction works on the principle of vibration and contrary to some of the teachings you can’t get what you want if you don’t have a vibrational match. Just thinking about what you want will not attract it.

Law of Attraction is designed for you to focus on a 3 step process: 1) Identify your desire (clarity through contrast) 2) Give your desire attention (what are you including in your vibration)  3) Allow it (removing doubt and negative vibrations) .

If you want more information on how to discover what you want in any area of your life with clarity through contrast worksheets you can get them off Michael Losier’s website. Click the link and download your FREE worksheets.

Eliminate self sabotage by reframing your thoughts

Do you have mind chatter going on in your head? It’s okay we all do. The question is, “Is yours positive or negative?” This is critical.

When you make mistakes what do you say to yourself? Do you realize that if you shifted your mind and approached things a little differently you could start the process of overcoming limiting beliefs and self sabotage.

Thoughts are things and everything you or I are using or have was first created in the mind as a thought.

Do you think that crappy negative thinkers are the business leaders and great inventors of products? Not a chance.

I will give you an example of a way to not ask and re ask a new question. When you make a mistake, “Do you say to yourself, what’s wrong with me?” That’s putting yourself down. How about, “What more can I do right?” Try this little experiment out for 30 days. Ask yourself 10 empowering, inspiring questions every day. Here are some examples.

1) Why is life so wonderful?

2) Why do people respect me so much?

3) Why do people know, like and trust me?

4) Why am I so consistent?

5) Why am I so productive?

6) Why am I such a great leader?

7) Why do I enjoy reading 30 minutes every day?

8) Why do I experience success so easily?

9) Why are so many good people attracted to me?

10) Why do I enjoy watching others succeed?

Do you want to shift your life? Do you want to really have more abundance in all areas of your life? Are you ready to leave the world of self sabotage behind?
